Feamat Camping Equipment

In the year 1983 Feamat was established in Calcutta for the Research & Development of Modern day light–weight high altitude camping equipment as a SSI Unit.

The shelves of feamat in those days were filled with finest down filled sleeping bags parkas Quilts and Pillows and a range of high altitude Tents. Many expeditions from Calcutta had used feamat range of equipment. Five star hotels in Calcutta Procured feather pillows from feamat.

Feamat developed the art of collecting down & feather process it degerminate it deodorise it and preserve it for making end products.

It took 6 more years for feamat to design produce and supply a range of rucksacks and started supplying to HMI (Darjeeling), NIM (Uttarkashi), WHMI (Manali), IMF (New Delhi). expeditions from Mumbai, Pune, and Kolkata.

In the year 1991 feamat rucksacks were selected for the Mt. Everest Expedition (North Face) through China by a team from Calcutta.

Feamat rucksacks were used for the successful INDO NEPAL ALL WOMENS MT. EVEREST EXPEDITION 1993 led by Ms. Bachendri Pal and 7 women made it to the summit with yak model rucksack designed produced and supplied by feamat.

Feamat’s commitment to design & produce high end quality mountaineering equipment kept on increasing and became a serious equipment designer producer and supplier.

The range of equipment became a long one. Tents, Sleeping bags with down feather and poly fiber, Internal frame rucksacks, Gaiters, Camp shoes, A range of gloves, Down parkas and half jackets, Eva foam sleeping mats and a range of top quality hiking boots specially hand crafted for the best of comfort and durability.

It took 24 solid and hard working years to deliver this range to the land of Himalayas.

In the year 1997 feamat become a parent company and nomad was born and supplying equipment of high altitude to Indian army and air force in bulk quantity. Supplied Tents, Rucksacks, Ponchos, Boots, Gloves and etc as import substitute.

The Prestigious European gold star award from Geneva by BID was awarded to NOMAD for total quality management out of 166 countries in October 2003.

In the year 2003 feamat moved out of Calcutta and set up a design and manufacturing unit at Kullu valley in Himachal Pradesh.
